Chile’s first certified biodynamic wine is an absolute corker. Unsurprisingly, it has been made by Alvaro Espinoza, a man who has championed the cause of organic wine in Chile for more than a decade. ‘G’, the culmination of several years work with Viñedos Emiliana, sees syrah forming the bulk of the blend, with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and carmenère each chipping in with 15 per cent. The result is wonderfully satisfying, complex wine, ripe yet tangy, bursting with plumy black fruit, yet with gentle tannins and fresh acidity to balance.
