When a wine has been fermented (turned from juice into wine) in barrel, the oak penetration is more intense than had it just been matured in oak. That might sound quite scary if you're nervous about too much oak but it's important to know that it can also mean much better integration of the oak with the fruit, rather than having an overbearing oak presence. This wine is a perfect example of how good it can be when it's correctly executed. There's generous helpings of buttery, creamy fruit but you'll have no trouble picking out the mango, melon and orange fruits and the creaminess will have the texture off freshly made fruit fool. There's real finesse here and paired with food it will show just how god oaked chardonnay can be.
